Titans Final Cuts

with 5 comments

Per the Tennessean, the following players have been released (including updates):

LS Jeremy Cain
DE Sean Conover
FB Casey Cramer
WR Biren Ealy
DT Antonio Johnson
S Calvin Lowry
TE Jamie Petrowski
DE Eric Taylor
WR Roydell Williams

The Titans are now down to the 53-man limit. More analysis on the roster later today.

UPDATE (8/30/08 1355 CT): Biren Ealy also cut. 7 more to come.
UPDATE #2 (8/30 1422 CT): DT Antonio Johnson. I’m surprised. I can’t see the Titans keeping less than 8 DL, and particularly less than 4 DT. Brown, Haynesworth, Jones, and who else? Gotta be Vickerson, I guess.
UPDATE #3 (8/30 1441 CT): FB Casey Cramer and LS/FB Jeremey Cain.
UPDATE #4 (8/30 1447 CT): Added Conover, added all cuts to main listing. Players who now look likely to make the team are Roydell and Paul Williams, who will likely be among the inactives most weeks.
UPDATE #5 (8/30 1452 CT): Eric Taylor. Tennessean just updating its article for now, so not posting new links. 2 left, Allred, Ball, Ganther, Vickerson, Roydell, Paul Williams the most likely to go.
UPDATE #6 (8/30 1533 CT): Calvin Lowry. I did not see that one coming. Just one more cut to come.
UPDATE #7 (8/30 1658 CT): Roydell Williams.

  1. Not surprised about Petrowski. Sorta surprised that Ealy got the axe. Gonna be interesting to see what else happens at WR.

  2. Roydell is the last cut. It’s in the updated article. Not surprised, considering this possibility was discussed last week, but a bit sad to see one of the few WRs who actually produced last year get kicked to the curb.

  3. I don’t think ANYONE saw this roster coming out of the cuts. Just WOW!

  4. By my estimation (we see now how much that is worth!), the Titans have to sign another safety to replace Lowry unless they plan on using Fuller as the primary backup for Griffin and moving King into the nickel spot. Either way, they are lighter at defensive back than is typical. They are heavier than usual at LB, so one would expect the cut to come there to fit in another DB.

  5. Garland, I agree with you. When Griffin went out the other night, it was Fuller who replaced him, not Lowry.Vickerson over Mookie was a surprise to me.I can see the Titans looking at DT, S, CB and WR on the waiver wire.
